2 VISION OF OUTREACH AT HAYES BARTON All members of Hayes Barton are actively and eagerly serving others, both near and far—

3 MISSION OF THE OUTREACH PATHWAY To organize, facilitate, communicate, and offer leadership for the outreach efforts of the church and its members

4 OUTREACH GOALS To encourage the active involvement of all members of the church Raise awareness of importance and rewards of missions and deepen understanding of the issues and problems addressed through missions Sustain and grow passion and support—financial and other Provide strategic and varied opportunities for service To seek to be agents of transformation in the lives of those we serve Emphasize empowerment Maximize effectiveness and lasting outcomes of service Create significant connections and enduring relationships with organizational partners

6 TYPES OF SUPPORT Hayes Barton Outreach Partnerships —major church-wide efforts; multi-year commitments; clear expressions of core values; many ways to be involved Annual Outreach projects —projects identified for funding support of Outreach Pathway through yearly planning and shepherding process; local, domestic, international, and youth Holiday Share —missions selected annually for special holiday contributions Disaster relief —response to emergency situations Angel grants —start-up or support for special needs Hayes Barton in Action —many groups involved in wide range of missions; Pathway raises awareness, promotes, and collaborates, as appropriate

7 HAYES BARTON OUTREACH PARTNERSHIPS Stop Hunger Now/Uganda ZOE Ministry Local initiative focused on food and other basic needs—now being planned

8 STOP HUNGER NOW/UGANDA PARTNERSHIP. Pastor Solomon Mwesige’s visit—March 24 SHN packaging event—May 18 Uganda visioning trip—June 5 strategies now being implemented

9 SHN/UGANDA PRIORITIES Egg production facility Microfinance project A well for refugee settlement school A Book for Every Child Stop Hunger Now packaging events

10 ZOE MINISTRY HBUMC partnering with Working Group of 70 orphans ages 15-21 who are heads of their households ZOE will empower them to move from extreme poverty to self sufficiency in 3 years Opportunities for engagement: Mission Moment videos and take-home activities for children Videoconferencing for youth Interactive blog/website, prayer partnering, etc. for adults and families

11 LOCAL INITIATIVE Initial activity: support of food co-op, Parkview Manor Planning underway for full scope of locally-based Hayes Barton Outreach Partnership

12 OUTREACH PATHWAY ALLOCATIONS/FUNDING PROCESS May-June—Invite applications for funding and other support for HB Partnerships and annual outreach projects (other than local projects) for the coming year. August Pathway meeting—Determine allocations (subject to the budget total which the Pathway will receive later) for the coming year for HP Partnerships, annual outreach projects, disaster relief, administration, and an overall allocation for local projects. November-January—Invite applications for local outreach projects. February—Determine funding for local projects.

13 CRITERIA FOR REVIEW OF PROPOSALS Meeting basic human needs Established support by congregation (including a shepherd) Current and future opportunities for members to actively volunteer Degree of impact available funds could have on organization Other support being received from HBUMC (ex., UMW) Preference to “support more deeply rather than more broadly”
