4.  The purpose of this ad is to inform viewers of all of the negatives of smoking and the many serious issues that can arise because of it.

5.  The audience is anyone who sees this ad posted. Many people are strongly connected to smokers which means in some way they can connect with the message of this picture.

6.  The hands are the only part of the man’s body shown because in this way everyone can relate to it. If the man’s whole body was shown then, for example, a woman would have more trouble connecting with the image because it would seem directed to men. The single pair of hands shows that this ad can be for anyone.

7.  Smoking is a dark and undesirable habit that no one wants. The dark background symbolizes this as opposed to a light background which would make the topic of smoking seem less harsh.

8.  The picture without the words loses all meaning. The bullet list in the picture provides all of the facts that tell the negatives of smoking. Without the words you have no facts and no point.

9.  Everyone knows guns are used to kill people and because of this ad, people understand how cigarettes are like bullets and that they kill people as well.

10.  It is logical for everyone to know the basic dangers of smoking and how you shouldn’t harm your body in such a way you do when you smoke.

11.  Smoking is a big issue and many people can connect with it because it has harmed so many lives. A lot of people have lost family members due to smoke related problems.
