Out of This World Webquest 7 th Grade Science

Introduction A planet is an object that is in orbit around a star. There are nine planets in our solar system that orbit the sun. We all know why Earth is cool, but why are the other planets cool, too? The class will be broken into eight teams, with each team assigned a planet. The goal of each team is to advertise the features of their planet and convince the judges that your planet is the coolest.

Task To make a case for your planet, you must first research all aspects of your planet. After you have complied your research, you will choose the most compelling aspects of your planet that make it the “best”. You will then make a poster to show others your planet’s unique qualities.

Process To complete your task you will complete the following steps: 1.Complete the Planet Data Worksheet. 2.Complete the Source Worksheet to document the resources you used. 3.Create your poster. Remember, you are trying to persuade others that your planet is the best in the solar system.

Resources Use these websites to research your planet. You must provide a list of ALL resources you used when you turn in your project. Click on your planet for your websites. MercuryVenus MarsJupiter SaturnUranus NeptunePluto

Evaluation Your teacher will give you the Solar System Project rubric.

Conclusion Congratulations on completing your work. Hopefully, your planet will be voted best in the solar system!
