2 Manipulative Care  Mostly utilized as a complementary treatment  In 2007, over 18 million adults received manipulative care within the past 12 months  Also, in 2007, 3.9 billion dollars spent on visits to practitioners for chiropractic or osteopathic manipulation.  Manipulative care for conditions involving the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, and other bodily systems  Chiropractic  Osteopathic  Osteopathic medicine’s philosophy  All body systems are interrelated and dependent upon one another for good health  Chiropractic medicine’s philosophy  Attention to the biomechanics, function and structure of the spine, its effects on the musculoskeletal and neurological systems  Proper function of these systems means restoring and preserving health
