2 The Best Leader award goes to Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) Franklin Roosevelt was born January 30, 1882 and died April 12, 1945. He was the 32 nd President of the United States. This best leader award goes to Roosevelt because during the Great Depression of the 1930s, Roosevelt created a New Deal. It provided relief for the unemployed. Also recovery of the economy, and reform the economic and banking systems.

3 The Person in the Right Place at the Right Time award goes Herbert Hoover Hoover’s ambitions were in public service. He believed wealthy men like himself had responsibilities to society. Hoover got his chance to start out in a high-profile position when he happened to be in the right place at the right time in London at the outbreak of the war. He was asked to take over the problem of getting food to the people of devastated Belgium. So he jump to the task of feeding people in a war zone and saved hundreds of thousands of lives.

4 The Wisest Decision Made By a U.S. President award goes to Harry S. Truman On December 7, 1941 Peal Harbor ( the American naval base in Hawaii) was attack by the Japanese. The U.S. wanted to be neutral but after the attack the United States had no choice but to enter World War II. In 1945 Harry S. Truman became president and made a wise decision to drop the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan to end the war quickly in order to prevent more disastrous land invasion. If Truman would not have authorized for the atomic bomb to be drop many more American would have been killed. The atomic bomb killed as many as 140,000 people in Hiroshima and 80,000 in Nagasaki.

5 The Stupidest Law award goes to the Lynch Law This award goes to the lynch law because the law allow whites to punish blacks suspected of a crime without due process of law. They were punish by being rape, hung, mob, and etc. Many lynching were photograph and could see clearly. Also they would use the photograph for souvenirs. 85 African American were lynched in the United States in 1890.

6 The Worst Leader award goes to Warren G. Harding Warren G. Harding was born November 2, 1865 and died August 2, 1923. Harding was the 29 th President and one of the worst presidents in American History. Much of this is due to the number of scandals his appointees were involved in. He was also convicted of bribery, fraud, conspiracy, and other forms of wrongdoing. Harding had no illusions about his intelligence and capacity for leadership.

7 The Person to be admired award goes to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929 and died April 4, 1968. King accomplished many thing during his life to stop segregation and have equal rights for all African Americans. He lead the Civil Rights Movement and the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott. Dr. King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Many African Americans admired Dr. King because of this famous speech “I Have A Dream”.

8 The Worst Social Movement in America award goes to the Agriculture Adjustment Act (AAA) The AAA tried to raise farm prices in 1933. It used proceeds from a new tax to pay farmers not to raise specific crops and animals. The socialist reasoning was that lower production would, in turn, increase prices. Farmers killed off certain animals and crops as they were told to by the AAA. Many could not believe that the federal government was condoning such an action when many Americans were starving.

9 The Best Social Movement in America award goes to the Work Process Administration (WPA) This award goes to the WPA because it provided almost 8 million jobs and income to the unemployed during the Great Depression in the United States from 1935 to I943. The program built many public buildings, projects and roads. Also the program involved teaching new skills and the project's original legislation went forward with a strong emphasis on family, training and building people up. It fed children and redistributed food, clothing, and housing. Almost every community in America had a park, bridge or school constructed by the agency.

10 The Best U.S. Foreign Policy award goes to the Good Neighbor Policy The Good Neighbor Policy was the foreign policy of the administration of United States President D. Roosevelt towards the countries of Latin America. This best U.S. foreign policy award goes to the good neighbor policy because the United States should have good relationships with its neighbors. The Good Neighbor Policy meant that the United States would keep its eye on Latin America. The impacts of this policy was the dramatic decline in the demeaning stereotyping of Latinos by the U.S. government, media, and entertainment industry. Also this it boom in hemispheric trade and accompanying economic recovery.

11 The U.S. Worst Military Involvement award goes to goes to World War I World War I was fought though 1914-1918. It was a global military conflict. Which involved the majority of the world’s great powers the Entente powers and Central powers. Over 70 million military personnel were mobilized in one of the largest wars in history. 15 million people were killed making it one of the deadliest conflicts in human history.
