Its Easy To Be Green! What does it mean to be green? What is sustainability?

Think – Pair - Share Imagine that someone has a million dollar check for you. All you have to do is answer the following question: What does being green mean in society today? You have 2 minutes to answer in 3 lines. Now share your answer with your neighbor. Who’s answer is better?

Future Generations Will Be Impacted By Our Decisions… TODAY! The choices we make today will affect our children. Think of recent natural disasters that are having a large impact on our current situation. What examples can you think of?

How do natural disasters affect consumers? Personal – homes, businesses, and personal property can be destroyed Reduced Farm Production – destruction of farms/livestock = increase in food prices (WHY?) Higher Energy Prices – energy production decreases = increase in prices

So what is sustainability? Sustainability is the conscious act of making choices that will have a positive impact on the environment Holds each and every person who uses the Earth’s resources responsible for maintaining them to the best of their ability

Your Future… Green Jobs! You are in charge of creating a Job Fair for the school. You’re only allowed to invite employers that are considered “green”. Research 10 different careers that can be considered green. What is the job title? What type of degree is needed? What is the starting salary? Why is this job considered green? Create a PowerPoint for your Job Fair featuring jobs that will be represented. Include the job title, career description, salary, degree needed and local companies on each slide. You must include 10 different jobs and at least 15 local companies (within 100 mile radius)
