1. Make a difference in your community Project by “Santa’s Helpers ”

2.  1 in 10 Utahans lives in poverty.  Utah is ranked fourth in the nation for the highest rate of very low food security in the nation.  About 400,000 Utahns risk missing one meal every day.  More than 134,000 Utahns receive food stamps.

5.  Collected 30.8 million pounds of food, providing 23 million meals to those in need in 2010.  Receives donations from food drives, grocery stores and commercial companies.  Always in need of donations……..

6.  There is always a need to feed!  How can we, as SLCC students, help?  Comm. 1010 Group service project steps to help hungry families !

7.  Created team called “Santa’s Helpers”  Contact UFB (Utah Food Bank), register online  Receive supplies: donation barrels, bags and posters  Soliciting local grocers to leave donation barrels  Asked stores in community to donate other supplies

8.  Door to door collection campaign-hand out flyer attached to UFB plastic donation bag (150)  Pick up date December 10 th 2011  Collect donations from grocers, from door to door solicitation and deliver to UFB.  Mission “Santa’s Helpers” Completed a food drive in community.
