Hating Jesus

Why Do People Hate Jesus? Various claims… When we face Jesus, we come to terms with something very personal – ourselves. John 7:7; John 15:24 Coming to terms with Jesus means we are forced to make a decision – am I going to love Jesus, or hate Him?

Hating the Exposure John 3:19-20 Some feel as if Jesus is trying to take something from them. – He is trying to take our sins! (1 John 3:5) He wants to provide a future without it (1 John 3:6). Hating Jesus means we hate the exposure of who we really are.

Bearing the Consequences Condemnation! (John 3:19) Avoiding exposure now only means delaying it for judgment (Eccl. 12:14). Those who hate Jesus’ exposure have only condemnation to look forward to (John 5:26- 29).

Why would I love Him? One can not be exposed to Christ without being exposed to His true identity and likeness (Heb. 1:3). Ps. 119:135 - Being exposed by Him means we are also exposed to Him. Those who are righteous love his exposure because it justifies them (John 3:21). Those who love His exposure have confidence of His praise in the day of judgment (1 Cor. 4:5).

Bearing the Consequences John 15:19 Following Jesus means we too must expose the truth of people’s actions (Eph. 5:11-13). – Because of this, people will hate us (1 Pet. 4:3-4). – 1 Pet. 4:12-19 John 15:18-20 – Loving Jesus’ exposure means we follow His example and accept the consequences– consequences of persecutions and of great reward.

Conclusion Do you hate Jesus? Do you hate his exposure of your true self? Being in the presence of the light convicts us – how are we going to respond? “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” Ps. 139:23-24
