9. Conflict NNNNag and Nagaina are trying to kill the family members. Rikki-tikki’s job is to protect the family. When the snakes attack Rikki-tikki tries to kill them.

10. Foreshadowing TTTThis story foreshadows an event when Teddy’s mother says that she shudders to think of snakes being in the house and trying to kill Teddy.
