All alkali metals should be 1 color –Color your key Draw a line around the s, p, d, and f orbitals and label with letter Find the Group # –Valence Electrons (ve - ) Transition Metals vary from 1 - 4 –Oxidation Number ( example 1 + or 2 - ) Transition Metals vary from 1+ to 4+… but always positive) Group 14 vary between 4 + and 4 - –Label Cation or Anion, if needed (some switch between these) Black circle – gasesBlue circle – liquids (at room temperature) Draw arrows in the direction of increase for the periodic trends of electronegativity, ionization energy, atomic radius, and ionic radius
