Interpret the quotes April Fools’ pranks 1 2

Interpret the quotes

Instructions Separate the class into 11 groups. Each group chooses one quote and discusses the meaning of it. After the discussion, each group sends one person up stage to interpret the quote they choose to make other groups understand. When on stage, the person should read the quote first to the class, and then begin with the sentence below: “After our discussion, we think the meaning of the quote is….”

April Fools’ pranks

Below are two pranks that you could play with your classmates or your family. The Big Spill Fake Potato

The Big Spill With this April Fools' Day prank, friends will be crying (with tears of laughter) over their "spilled milk."

CRAFT MATERIALS Cup (ceramic or disposable) Glue Brown Puff Paint Waxed paper Time needed: Less than 1 Hour

1. Choose a cup, either ceramic or disposable. (If you use a foam or paper cup, glue the lid on and open the sipping hole.) 2. Mix together equal parts white glue and brown Puff Paint, adding more paint until the mixture is darker than the color of coffee (or, if you prefer, hot chocolate or melted chocolate ice cream) you want (it lightens in color as it dries). 3. Pour about a tablespoon of the mixture onto waxed paper, set the tipped-over cup into it, and then pour another one to two tablespoons on and in front of the mug's lip or cup's sipping hole. 4. Let dry (it could take up to a week), then just peel off the waxed paper.

Done! You could play this prank on your friends.

Fake Potato These dud spuds make a great side dish at dinnertime on April Fools' day. After the joke's been sprung, kids can serve up the pretend potatoes at playtime.

CRAFT MATERIALS Nude-colored nylons Pillow stuffing Needle Thread Scissors Yellow craft foam Time needed: Less than 1 Hour

1. For each potato, stuff an 8-inch section of nude-colored nylons with pillow stuffing (A).

2. Twist both ends and use a needle and thread to sew them to the bottom (B).

3. For each eye, push the threaded needle up from the bottom and out the top of the potato, then back through about 1/8 inch from where it came out (C). Pull the needle out the bottom and knot the thread to secure it. Before "serving," use scissors to cut a slit on the top and add a pat of craft foam butter.

Done! You could play this prank on your friends.
