3. What is intercession? Intercede: to meet for consultation, conversation, or supplication Acts 25:24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt [made suit] with me… Romans 11:2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel

4. What is intercession? Synonyms in the New Testament: –Mediator—a go-between I Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus –Advocate—consoler I John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous

5. Why do we need intercession? Because we cannot approach God ourselves –Physically (John 1:18, I John 4:12; Exodus 33:20) –Intellectually (Isaiah 55:8-9) –Spiritually (Isaiah 6:5-7) Because we do not know: –What we need (8:26) –What is His will (8:27)

6. What are the benefits of intercession? Freedom –From sin (I John 2:1) –From worry that God doesn’t understand Job 9:32-33 …we should come together in judgment. Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both. Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

7. What are the benefits of intercession? Confidence –Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. –That the right thing will be said –That the right thing will be done
