Fashion in India, Then and Now Whitney P. and Rachel Long Block A3

Introduction The food and fashion in India have changed over time, like the cultures of many other countries. But, is change always a good thing? The changes that have been made are the result of industrialization, influence from other countries, and money. Things that can be sold for less money become more used because not everyone can afford the most expensive clothes. The changes in India were good in some ways, like keeping up with the world, becoming a more prosperous country, and making a better community. But some have been bad because the culture in India was changed, the old ways were forgotten, and the religions may not accept the changes. In this way, there are changes being made that are good for India, and bad.

ΔIt is better to keep the old fashion because the culture is precious and looks back on the past and what the country has been through together. Just because things are easier to use or easier to make, does not mean that the culture has to forget their heritage. The clothes that were made then are beautiful and there is no reason that they cannot use them now. ΔThe fashion will still reflect our past just with newer styles and colors. The past can be reflected in different ways like our food, activities, holidays, and more. Today’s fashion helps make Indians better global citizens. Also, making them easier to maneuver in is a plus. Sarees can be very long and easy to trip over so adjusting their height makes them better for everyday living.

 Clothing should be up to date with the world. India should not look like its falling behind in anything even fashion. Change is good and its not like we are losing our culture we are just adapting new and more practical ways to live. On special holidays we can wear our older fashions to celebrate our culture. It does not change our culture or past it just moves into a brighter future.  Clothing should be like tradition, where it is passed down from generation to generation like stories. They are both good, but India does not need to loose the culture that they have held onto for so long. Without it, history would be a mystery and no one would understand. Every part of a culture is important because without every little part, the culture is nothing. We do not have much knowledge of the fashion in India a long time ago because the styles changed. If they did not, there would be much more culture to explore.

Conclusion There have been many points for both sides. Keeping old ways keeps tradition, culture, and history. It shows how proud of the past India is. Staying with old ways is a sign of respect and the struggles India has faced and overcome. However, are the new ways better? New ways are a connection to the world, an advancement, and quicker. So India can develop more resources and work. Things are gained and loss with both. However, India can fight till the end but every individual has the choice of how to live...
