My Special Number 11 My Special Number 11 A presentation by: Emma Phillips 6 th Grade, Ms. Maggie Daly A presentation by: Emma Phillips 6 th Grade, Ms. Maggie Daly

Factors and Proper Factors  The # 11 has only 2 Factors which are 1 and itself. This is because only prime #’s can be divided by 1 and itself.  The # 11 is a very lonely # because it has no Proper Factors, only Factors.  The # 11 has only 2 Factors which are 1 and itself. 3 Multiples Here are some multiples of 11: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121, 132, 143, 154, 165, 176, 187 etc. If you look closely you can see that there is a pattern in the list of multiples. 4 Prime or Composite My # 11 is a prime # because, a prime # is where the # can only be divided by 1 and itself. My # 11 is not a Composite # because, 11 has no other Factors but 1 and itself. A composite # is a # that has more that 2 Factors.

Would the # 11 be a good first move in the Factor game? Why? or why not? I think 11 would be a good first move in the Factor Game because 11 is prime. Also if I started off choosing # 11 then I would get 11 points and my opponent would get 1 point only.

Would my # 11 be a good first move in the Product game? Why? or why not?  My # wouldn’t be a good first move in the Product game because first of all my # 11 isn’t even in the Product game. My # isn’t in the Product game because # 11 isn’t a Product.

Abundant, Deficient and Perfect  My # is not an Abundant # because my # doesn’t have any Proper Factors.  My # is also not a Deficient # because my # doesn’t have any Proper Factors.  My # is also not a Perfect because my # also doesn’t have Proper Factors.

Odd or Even? My # is an odd # because my # can’t be divided by 2. All even # can be divided my 2 but not Odd # though. My # is an odd # because my # can’t be divided by 2. All even # can be divided my 2 but not Odd # though.

Glossary Abundant #: A # for which the sum of all its Proper Factors is greater than the # itself. Composite #: A whole # with Factors other than 1 and itself( that is, a whole # that is not prime.) Deficient #: A # for which the sum of all its Proper Factors is less than the # itself. Even #: A multiple of 2. When you divide an even # by 2, the remainder is 0. Factors: One or two or more whole #’s that are multiplied to get the Product.

Glossary Continued…. Factor Pair: Two whole #’s that are multiplied to get the Product. Multiple: The Product of a given whole # and another whole#. Odd #: A whole # that is not a multiple of 2. When an odd # is divided by 2, the remainder is 1. Perfect #: A # for which the sum of all its Proper Factors is the # itself. Proper Factors: All the Factors of a #, except the # itself. Prime #: A # with exactly two factors, 1 and the # itself.

Why I chose this # I chose the # 11 because it is my lucky # and I usually say this # a lot at school. I also like this # because in Bingo the # is called ‘Legs 11.’
