OVERVIEW Problem Solution Constraints  Technical  Practical System Overview Working System Testing Team Distribution Improvements Q&A [2]

PROBLEM The issue with alarm companies of today is that they overcharge for the service they are offering. In the United States nearly 2 million households are broken into each year [4]. In the United States, only 17% of homes have a home security system [4]. [3]

SOLUTION The Home Alarm System is going to change the face of the market by offering an easy, self-install alarm system that offers the same great protection as other companies without the overpriced rates.

TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS Communication Systems The mobile must be able to communicate with at least 4 nodes. Node BatteriesThe battery in each node must provide enough voltage to operate the sensor/switch, microcontroller, and transceiver. Mobile ApplicationThe Android smartphone application must be able to arm, disarm, control individual nodes, and provide battery life information for each node. Server FunctionThe user must receive a notification within 10 seconds of the alarm being tripped. Node FunctionEach node must be able to communicate with the microprocessor at a distance of 40 feet inside a home.

PRACTICAL CONSTRAINTS EconomicHome Alarm system’s installation and monthly costs for this package must be less than what the competitors offer. SustainabilityThe home must have electricity and a wireless network.

ECONOMIC ADT and other big alarm companies offer similar packages for $36.99 a month with a +$99 installation fee [1] The Home Alarm System has NO monthly payments

SUSTAINABILITY Home owner must provide: Accessible Wi-Fi Wall outlet for microprocessor power

SYSTEM OVERVIEW

CIRCUIT SCHEMATIC: MOTION NODE

CIRCUIT SCHEMATIC: SWITCH NODE

BREADBOARD LAYOUT: MOTION NODE

BREADBOARD LAYOUT: SWITCH NODE

TESTING THE POWER SUPPLY: MOTION NODE The figure shows the current draw for the entire motion node Our battery has a rating of 2779mA/hr The batteries will power the node for approximately 19 days These measurements falls within the design constraints of providing enough power to operate the node

TESTING THE POWER SUPPLY: SWITCH NODE The figures show the current draw for the entire switch node when it is open and closed The batteries will power the system for approximately 25 days These measurements falls within the design constraints of providing enough power to operate the node
