Fred Asiri2 A Tentative CF&S Work Plan Approach for EDR

Fred Asiri3 Goal: To apply the first iteration cycle of the Work-Plan, focusing on e- Sources, Beam Delivery and Interaction Region Approach: Will be based on Systems Engineering Management –Define physics functional requirements Identify the range; Acceptable, Preferable, Desirable –Define boundaries, interfaces, utility needs and functional environment –Define physics requirement to an engineering requirements –Initiate a CFS Design Configuration Control Document –Put under Interface Control –Identify Optimization Studies Design Alternatives Trade-Offs Trade Studies Constructability Studies Value Analysis Studies A Tentative CF&S Work Plan Approach for EDR

Fred Asiri4 All three regions contributed to the following CFS accomplishments:All three regions contributed to the following CFS accomplishments: –An overall Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the CE/CF effort was developed that reflected work required for the development of the EDR. –The WBS were prioritized and the highest priority items were then developed into CE/CF work packages with suggested milestones and completion dates. –Project Management Plan (PMP) with milestones for the highest priority work packages was developed and submitted to the Project Management Group. –An initial comprehensive Area System criteria list was developed. –This criteria list will be used, with necessary adjustments, to collect data from all of the Area Systems in the coming months and will serve as the basis for the EDR CFS design Activities Update Since November 5, 07

Fred Asiri8 Main Linac Value Management Workshop-11/07Main Linac Value Management Workshop-11/07 –Workshop to comprehensively examine the power and cooling system requirements and design solutions leading to ideas that will reduce the connected power, power usage and operating costs for the project –Followed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Format –Agenda and presentations at: http://ilcagenda.linearcollider.org/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=2328 –Concentrated on largest power user, the Main Linac – examined all aspects of the technical equipment and conventional equipment as it relates to power and cooling –Speculation Phase -> Functional Analysis Phase (FAST Diagrams) -> Development Phase Planning Activities Update Since November 5, 07

Fred Asiri11 Activities Update Since November 5, 07 Close-out –Over 50 items prioritized –Top 13 listed were developed into Work Packages –13 WP Proposals to be bid on by Labs or others

Fred Asiri12 Anticipated work in the coming months:Anticipated work in the coming months: –Generate and distribute criteria lists to all Area Systems (tailored as needed for general as well as area specific criteria). –Establish EDR points-of–contact with all Area Systems and Technical Systems as needed. –Continue to develop CE/CF plan for EDR definition and completion for presentation at the GDE Meeting in March, 2007 with consideration for available resources and work package assignments. –The CFS Group will explore with CERN issues common to the ILC and CLIC projects that have strong mutual interest and overlap in the Conventional Facilities area. Activities Update Since November 5, 07
