4 Framing the Session The Internet provides boundless resources. This “bounty” requires organization on the part of teacher and can often be overwhelming to students. Google: Your Typical Source

5 Your Typical Results Many students have difficulties finding websites with quality content that are written at the appropriate reading level.

6 Enter: PageKeeperPageKeeper http://pagekeeper.teachingmatters.org PageKeeper allows teachers to quickly and easily create a page of Web links to manage student web use in their classrooms

10 Guided Practice Go to the PageKeeper Web site: http://pagekeeper.teachingmatters.org http://pagekeeper.teachingmatters.org Click on the “Register for Free” link. Create a new account

11 Guided Practice To edit your PageKeeper page, click on “Edit my page” under the Link Menu heading.

12 Guided Practice To add a category – Type the name of your category in the “Category Title” box To add more categories, click on the “Add More Categories” button

13 Guided Practice To add a link – Type the name of your page in the “link 1” box then cut and paste the website address to the URL box. To add more links, click on the “Add More Links” button

14 Other Features PageKeeper also allows you to search the pages of other educators by: >Username >Grade >Subject

15 Guided Practice Exit projects can take many forms. Some kids need more direction. Your PageKeeper page is a list of sites you as the teacher will direct your students to. In the Resources section of session 8.3 you will find of list of Web sites you may want use on your own page.

17 Login to your PageKeeper account. Click “Edit My Page.” Establish appropriate categories for your online science library. Construct a page of resources for use in your science class. Use the websites you found in Session 8.2 and the Web sites in the Resources section as a starting point.

19 Today we learned how to establish a PageKeeper account and create an online science library. Now we will look at how a few of you assembled your online resources. We can also discuss the challenges you had. Review
