& THE CHEPANG PEOPLE
2
The Chepang people are the original inhabitants of Nepal’s Middle Hills.
3
They have played virtually no part in Nepal’s development and are thus chronically poor and backward.
4
The two earthquakes of April & May 2015 impacted on other communities differently from The Chepang....
5
... who are so under- resourced that they simply don’t even have the stone structures that elsewhere now require the quake-proof rebuild.
6
... Instead, for The Chepang, shacks of wood, adobe and thatch are the norm - and even caves still suffice. ( if suffice is even the word!)
7
In part, for The Chepang people, the harsh earthquake aftermath reality is due to the shift of post-quake priorities and funding by government and institutions.
8
The particularly severe winter conditions with freezing temperatures from December (2015) have meant that – THE NEED OF THE HOUR IS BLANKETS
9
Blankets that in effect become quilts ergo
10
Quake-Quilts are a uniform size and weight (90 inches X 72 inches and weighing 4.5 kgs)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your very generous support in an acute hour of need
23
CONCLUSION: Quake-Quilts distribution to The Chepang has been carefully organized and recorded. Local leaders confirm that ALL Chepang of the district have now received – at the very least – one quilt per family.
24
Winter conditions in Nepal will persist well into February (2016). So will Quake-Quilts production and distribution. The Quake-Quilts initiative will thus reach other stricken communities and needful families.
