Outline of your right Pastor-Teacher
5
Pastor-Teacher is a spiritual gift by the Holy Spirit to certain men from all kinds of personalities, backgrounds and socioeconomic status.
6
The Pastor has the authority of an Apostle, except that the Pastor is limited to one local church.
7
Each Pastor has been assigned to various individual believers that make up a local assembly. 1 Peter 5:3
8
No believer can attain spiritual maturity and become an invisible hero or glorify God apart from post- salvation renewing of their mind by submitting to the teaching authority of their right Pastor-Teacher.
9
Bible Doctrine must be learned under authority, and that authority is vested in the spiritual gift of Pastor-Teacher. Heb 13:17
10
Heb 13:17, “Keep obeying your leaders (Pastors) and submit to their authority, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.”
11
The Pastor is commanded to teach in all situations. 2 Tim 4:2, “Preach the word. Be ready in season and out of season. Reprove, rebuke, exhort (when warranted by context), with all patience and teaching.”
12
1. The Pastor’s Objective Mandate: The three-fold purpose of the Pastor-Teacher in Eph 4:12-16.
13
a) For the edification of the body, i.e., to teach, study, discipline (public), reprimand (private), and encourage by steadfastness and doctrine.
14
b) To equip and train the Royal Family for combat, see chapter 6.

b) To equip and train the Royal Family for combat, see chapter 6. c) For training future Pastors.

2. The Pastor’s Subjective Mandate: Communication of the mystery doctrine for the Church Age, 2 Tim 2:15.
17
2 Tim 2:15, “Be diligent (study) to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.”
18
a) The Pastor must be prepared prior to entering the ministry.
19
a) The Pastor must be prepared prior to entering the ministry. b) He must study and teach, study and teach.
20
3. The pastor has secondary responsibilities related to administration of the local church, and a limited amount of counseling.
21
In Eph 4:11 the word "Pastor" (POIMEN) means shepherd - the one who is in charge of a flock of sheep.
22
"Teachers" (DIDASKALOS) emphasizes the Pastor's #1 priority as an instructor, teacher, and leader, - to lead the sheep to spiritual nourishment. John 21:15-17
23
The Pastor’s love for the Lord is evidenced by his willingness to feed and shepherd the three categories of believers, (new, sophomore, mature) under his charge. 1 Peter 5:1-6
24
Synonyms for Pastor-Teacher: (See handout)
25
Phil 3:15, “Let us therefore, as many as are mature, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you.”
