Moon and Earth Characteristics By: Madi McKenzie and Emily Mahler

Size The moon is 2,000 miles in diameter The Earth is 3,959 miles in diameter So the Earth is 1,959 miles larger than the moon

Landforms and Craters Craters are made by meteorites that crash into the moon. Some of Earth’s landforms are: valley, plateau, and mountains

Gravity The moon has 1.622 M/S2 gravity The Earth has 9.78 M/S2 gravity

Weather and Atmosphere There is no weather or no atmosphere on the moon. The Earth has 300 mile atmosphere. Some of Earth’s weather is: snow, thunder, and rain.

Water 70% water covers the Earth. 5% water by mass is on the moon.

Weathering and Erosion The moon has no weathering or erosion Weathering and erosion on Earth is caused by wind and water.

Time to Rotate on Axis It takes the moon 29.53 days to rotate on its axis It takes the Earth 24 hours to rotate on its axis

Time to Revolve or Orbit Once It takes the moon 27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes, and 11.6 seconds to revolve around the Earth It takes the Earth 365.242375 days to renolve around the Sun

What causes Seasons? It depends on the Sun and what part of the Earth it’s facing. ----------  Mr. Lopez

Low and high tides It depends on the Earth’s gravitational pull to the moon. It can also depend on the moons phases.

THE END! KESSLER MAHLER PISCIOTTA
