1.Square/ Rectangle: A=b x h 2.Triangle: A= ½ b x h ( a triangle is ½ of a rectangle) 3.Circle: A = r2

Circle: the distance around a circle is called circumference. C = 2r. Every other shape: P= sum of all sides.

Surface Area Vocabulary Deals with 3D shapes or “Solids” 1. Face: a flat surface of the shape 2. Edge: where to faces meet 3. Vertex: where three or more edges meet

Polyhedrons A three-dimensional figure whose faces are polygons. Polygon-a 2D shape made from line segments. Prism- polyhedron that has two parallel and congruent polygons for the faces/ bases Pyramid- polyhedron that has one base (any shape) while the other sides are triangles.

3D shapes with circles Cylinder- has two parallel congruent circular bases Cone- has one circular base and a lateral surface that comes to a point Sphere-has only one surface that is curved, has no bases. All points on the surface are the same distance to the center of the sphere.

Nets- the shapes used to make the 3D figures Rectangular Prism Rectangular Pyramid Cone Cylinder
