Politeness really is the way to go. (Pardon me, do you have any dijon mustard?)

Bad manners make us look real bad, you know.

(Now look what you’ve done! I’ll have to get a new tie!)

Each time you step on someone else’s toes,

(I say, good fellow. I believe that’s my foot you are standing on.)

Comes back to haunt you- that’s the way it goes.

You may be thinking, you may not realize,

Your manners matter to those around you.

After you! No, no, no! After you!

No, really! I insist! So do I! You first!

No, you first! You first!

Okay. I’ll go first! Hey!

Be civil to your neighbor every day. (Good morning Mr. Jennings.)

Show kindness, and you’ll see that that’s the way. (Oh, thank you for the flowers, darlin’.)

Toss rudeness up on the highest shelf. (Where you’ll never get at it!)

Treat others as you would treat yourself. (Am I asking too much here?)

You may be wondering, “How does this apply?”

Your manners matter to those around you.

Gimme the salt. Ah ah ah! You didn’t say the magic word!

Would you please give me the salt? Why certainly. You may have the salt.

Thank you. You’re welcome.

When you are respectful, you act decently. (What a nice boy!)

Your actions help to shape the way you’ll be. (Yah! You’ll probably be pumped up.)

Good manners show a thoughtful side of you. (I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille)

Good habits follow if you see it through. (Must… have… good… manners!)

You may be thinking, you may not realize,

Your manners matter to those around you.

You may be wondering, “How does this apply?”

Your manners matter to those around you.

Four out of five doctors recommend good manners as part of a healthy lifestyle. Make good manners a part of your day.
