2 OBJECTIVE To help transform Newfoundland and Labrador into an internationally recognized leader in education, training, research and development related to all facets of the oil and gas industry, with emphasis on offshore production in ice- prone waters.

3 THE OFFSHORE  Major discoveries in Newfoundland and Labrador: 2.1 B bbl oil, 9.3 TCF gas and 413 M bbl NGLs  Exploration should increase reserves significantly  Harsh environment, especially ice-prone waters
