Scientific Method In eight easy steps
State the problem as a question. 1. Begin with a solid problem. 2. Need to prove it true or false. 3. Choose a problem you don’t know the answer to.
Research the problem 1. Examine, measure, and analyze. 2. Use books, newspapers, videos, the internet, and other sources.
Form a hypothesis 1. Stick with a simple statement. 2. Use if and then 3. Should be an answer to a problem.
Write procedures to test the hypothesis 1. Tell what materials you used. 2. Tell what procedures, process, or steps you used. 3. Help others to repeat your experiment.
Perform the experiment 1. Remember you need: 2. A control group. 3. A variable group.
Observe and record the results 1. Always record your data. 2. Keep your results together in one journal.
Interpret the data 1. Organize the data: 2. On a graphs, charts, and tables. 3. Use pictures and photographs 4. Write a summary 5. Clarify your summary ( state it clearly)
State your conclusion 1. Describe what your data describes. 2. Be honest. State it clearly
