This era of the advancement of technology and production led to the “development” of many societies all throughout the Western world to begin with. Today, we are going to learn about how the Industrial Revolution impacted Japan about 100 years after it began in England.

Big Idea  How many hours did you “work” yesterday? How does that compare to the workday of the average American (8 hours)? How does it compare to the workday of the average female Japanese mill worker (13-14 hours)? What can we infer about how working conditions and expectations have changed over time? What about in different parts of the world?
