3 Nuclear Ab initio Calculation Ab initio - treat the dynamics of all D.o.F Nuclear physics: A = no. of nucleons D.o.F - spatial, spin, isospin State-of-the-art nuclear force models limited to small no. of particles Current few-body methods enable A ≤ 12 (4) 12/09/20133Ab-initio Exclusive 4He photodisintegration

4 Why Inelastic Reactions? 1.Calculate accurately inaccessible observables for: Astrophysics; Supernovae; Unstable isotopes; Fusion reactions; etc. 2.Provide a laboratory for Testing the Nuclear Force Models Why (EM) reactions? 12/09/20134Ab-initio Exclusive 4He photodisintegration

27 Summary Inelastic reactions, e.g. 4 He photodisintegration are of interest, but are hard to calculate Require realistic forces, which complicate the calculation Our tool, based on exclusive LIT, enables: ab initio calculation of reactions (even beyond 3-body breakup) including state-of-the-art NN + 3N forces isospin symmetry breaking Preliminary results indicate: 3NF effect is in the FSI ISB effect: CS(p) > CS(n) – opposite than latest experiment suggests Tensor force is important 12/09/201327Ab-initio Exclusive 4He photodisintegration
