3 PFP Team Meeting Convening Memos Project wants a “Convening Memo” for each peer review –Basically an invitation and agenda –I have submitted them for the SSL reviews –LASP and GSFC should submit them for LPW and MAG –Submit them to Stasia and LM and Jedrich at GSFC –Post them to MIS (make a Reference document to include all info for your peer review)

4 PFP Team Meeting Sample Convening Memo This is the announcement for the MAVEN PF Mechanical/Thermal Pre-PDR Peer Review, which will be held at the University of California, Berkeley, Space Sciences Laboratory. Please forward as appropriate. Directions to SSL can be found at: http://www.ssl.berkeley.edu/about/visiting.php Parking permits will be provided at the meeting The meeting will also be presented via Webex Topic: PF Mechanical/Thermal Peer Review Date: Monday, May 10, 2010 Time: 9:00 am, Pacific Daylight Time (San Francisco, GMT-07:00) Meeting Number: 801 876 618 Meeting Password: PFPEER https://maven.webex.com/maven/j.php?ED=135374997&UID=0&PW=NYmE5ZTk2YTNi&RT=MiM0 https://maven.webex.com/maven/j.php?ED=135374997&UID=0&PW=NYmE5ZTk2YTNi&RT=MiM0 Dial in to 510-643-9226 ----- ----- ----- Date: Monday, May 10, 2010 Room: Addition Conference Room Time: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Pacific Presentation Lead: Paul Turin, 510-642-5289 Lunch will be provided. ----- ----- ----- The Review Team has been identified as follows: Mike Sholl (Chair) David Pankow Bobby Besuner Pat Jalinsky LM: Stasia Habenicht, Niel Tice, TBD IIRT: Oren Sheinman Project: Nick Jedrich, Bob Bartlett, Jim Morrissey Peer Review material will be available as follows: Supporting Artifacts will be distributed to the review team 1 week prior to the review Presentation materials will be available for the board members upon arrival, and will be posted after the review for future reference.

5 PFP Team Meeting Agenda Attached to Memo

6 PFP Team Meeting Review Teams Review teams consist of: –a Chair who is responsible for collecting the RFAs and generating a 1-2 page report –Review team members selected by the Peer Lead –An IIRT review team member –Project review team members/observers –LM review team members/observers –LASP review team members/observers

7 PFP Team Meeting Topics These reviews are intended to be informal reviews of the detailed designs –Schematics, solid works models, simulations, analyses, etc. Some discussion of requirements is needed to motivate the design –Not looking for a formal list of all the requirements

8 PFP Team Meeting Materials Any reference material you want the reviewers to look at in advance should be provided ~1 week before the review –For example, Software requirements, FPGA specifications –Send to me and I will post Materials presented at the review should also be posted where possible just before the review –Not limited to Power Point – large format drawings should be in a readable format like pdf –Some data is not easily posted like solid works models. Collect an attendance list and post after the meeting Collect RFAs and post a summary after the meeting Post Chair’s report after the meeting

9 PFP Team Meeting Summary of SSL Reviews

10 PFP Team Meeting Mechanical/Thermal Review Covers LPW booms, SWIA, STATIC, SWEA back end, PFDPU This is a ME review of mechanical designs –Details of analyzer optics motivation will be discussed in the Analyzer / Front End review Will start with a System level summary by Curtis/Turin –This will not be repeated at the other reviews, but we should post the materials to those other reviews for the review teams to look at in advance Expect a lot of use of solidworks to poke around models and talk to design details Discuss any modeling done –Mass properties, structural loads, thermal, etc.

11 PFP Team Meeting Analyzers & Front Ends Review This covers the instrument optics, detectors, and analog front ends (up to the FPGA). Includes SWIA, STATIC, SEP Power converters and digital electronics covered elsewhere For the analyzers, discuss the optics – details of mechanisms, etc, should be covered in the Mechanical review –Include simulations, FOV calculations, etc. Analog Front Ends: –SWIA – anode, preamps –STATIC – anode, preamps, TDC –SEP – DFE and DAP up to FPGA (including bias supply)

12 PFP Team Meeting Power Converter Review Covers all the low and high voltage supplies except the SWES HV (CESR): –REG and IIB in the PFDPU –SWEA, SWIA, STATIC LVPS –SWIA/STATIC Sweep HVPS –SWIA MCP HVPS –STATIC Acceleration/MCP HVPS (14KV) Top level power distribution Converter block diagrams Schematics

13 PFP Team Meeting Digital / FPGA Review Covers DCB, SWEA Digital, SWIA Digital, STATIC Digital, SEP FPGA& DCB interface –Top level block diagram –Block diagrams of the instruments & DCB –Schematics –FPGA specification review –FPGA design rules –FPGA development plans (simulations, EM testing, Flash parts, sockets, daughter cards, flight parts, etc.)

14 PFP Team Meeting Flight Software Review Software Requirements Implementation Plans Preliminary Software Design

15 PFP Team Meeting Presenters & Presentations Peer Review Leads should be discussing with presenters: –who covers what –time allocations –Reference materials to be provided in advance –Presentation materials Using Webex we will either have to “pass the ball” as well as passing the overhead projector connection around, or else put all the presentation material on one machine – up to the Lead.

16 PFP Team Meeting Flight Software Requirements In Review with NASA this week Need review & sign off by Instrument Leads NOW.
