2  Artists began moving away from traditional art and started creating new and original compositions  Cubism: art movement beginning in early 20 th Century that rejected naturalist depictions and focused on shapes, forms in unconventional compositions

3 Demoiselles d’Avignon 1907 o First Cubist artwork o Stunned the art world because it was so different o Set a precedent for other artists to experiment with different styles

4  Women’s suffrage protests in Europe. Finnish women were first in Europe to be granted the right to vote.  The Bubonic Plague broke out in San Francisco  Boy Scouts of America was founded

5 Still Life with Cane Chair 1907  Cubists began creating collages  Further breaking the traditions of art
