HOMECOMING

Luke ‬ ‭ 15 ‬ : ‭ 16-22 NASB “And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him.

Luke ‬ ‭ 15 ‬ : ‭ 16-22 NASB But when he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger!

Luke ‬ ‭ 15 ‬ : ‭ 16-22 NASB I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men.’

Luke ‬ ‭ 15 ‬ : ‭ 16-22 NASB So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

Luke ‬ ‭ 15 ‬ : ‭ 16-22 NASB And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

Luke ‬ ‭ 15 ‬ : ‭ 16-22 NASB But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;’”

When you return home with a humble heart, God’s provision for you will exceed your highest expectations.

Whatever you lack, the father has more than enough for you, at home with him (Luke 15:17).

The son is content with being a hired slave., but the father will settle for nothing less than a fully restored son (Luke 15:19, 21).

When you come home, what is waiting for you is greater than your highest expectations.

You receive total acceptance for complete repentance.

The Best Robe: This refers to the robe reserved for those who are righteous in the eyes of the Father. The father sees the best in you.

“I will rejoice greatly in the L ORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its sprouts, and as a garden causes the things sown in it to spring up, so the Lord G OD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.” Isaiah 61:10–11

The Ring: Through the ring the father bestows his authority upon his son. Just sign for it!

The Sandals: Sandals were a luxury that servants did not wear. The son is not, however, to be treated as a servant. He is to wear sandals.

What does it mean to come home? Reconciliation with the Father; Restoration of your destiny & purpose; Reunion of brothers and sisters.

What do you do when you come home? Be open and honest; Expect acceptance; Walk through the whole process; Trust those who are walking with you.
