CDM Project Cycle Planning of a CDM Project Activity Project participants need to understand and consider various requirements for a CDM project activity to be registered. (1) Project Planning Completion of Project Design Document (PDD) Project Design Document (PDD) is to be completed according to the template PDD form provided by the Executive Board (EB). (2) PDD Completion (3) Validation Independent evaluation of a project activity by a Designated Operational Entity (DOE) against the requirements of the CDM on the basis of the PDD Written approval from Designated National Authority (DNA) of the Parties The Letter of Approval (LoA) states that the proposed CDM project activity contributes to sustainable development. The registration of a project activity can take place without an Annex I Party being involved at the stage of registration. (4) DNA Approval (5) Registration Formal acceptance by the EB of a validated project as a CDM project activity (6) Monitoring Collection and archiving of all relevant data necessary for calculating the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions in accordance with the monitoring plan Periodic independent review and ex-post determination by the DOE of the monitored GHG emission reductions by a registered CDM project activity during the verification period / Written assurance by the DOE that a project activity achieved the emission reductions as verified (7) Verification/Certification Issuance of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) equivalent to the number of GHG emission reductions verified and certified (2% of the CERs to be deducted prior to issuance as Adaptation Share of Proceeds) (8) Issuance of CERs (9) Share of CERs Share of CERs generated by the project activity among the project participants (10) Sale of CERs Profit obtained from selling CERs
