1. Alive-O 3 Term 3: Lesson 3 A Time to Share Meals

2. The Last Supper On the first day of the Passover celebration, Jesus, his friends and his followers discussed the preparations they would have to make for the Passover meal.

3. Jesus sent some of them to a house that he knew in the city of Jerusalem. There they prepared a big room and food for the meal.

4. They were very busy. They set out the room. They had to get some herbs and a one-year-old lamb.

5. They had to make some unleavened bread and buy some red wine.

6. When Jesus and the others arrived, everything was ready.

7. When evening came, everyone sat down to eat the Passover meal.

8. They said special prayers.

9. They shared their special stories about Moses leading the people out of Egypt and they shared their special memory of things that had happened to their people in times past.

10. This Passover was the same as every other Passover until, as they were sharing the special food and wine Jesus did something that was very different to every other Passover.

11. He took the unleavened bread and blessed it and broke it and shared it out among his friends and followers and he said, ‘This is my body, take and eat it’.

12. Then he took the cup of wine. He blessed it and he said, ‘ This is the cup of my blood, take and drink it’.

13. Jesus friends had never seen anything like this before, at any other Passover meal. This was new. At first they weren’t sure what Jesus meant, but he said to them, ‘Do this in memory of me’.

14. When the supper was over, Jesus and his friends went off to a hill nearby, called The Mount of Olives, to pray.
