1 A Visual How-To Guide (Best viewed in Slide Show Mode)

2  The primary purpose of this tutorial is to provide a process that allows grade administers to identify problematic examination questions.  Doing so allows administers to consider the validity of the question and/or the student’s accessibility to its signature content.  This promotes accountability for both Student and Administer and provides tools to improve the overall quality of Liberty’s educational experience.  For our purposes here, this is done by tallying the number of times a question is populated in the examinations in comparison to the frequency that students answer the said question correctly.

8  Open or save the document onto your computer  It should open in Excel  A warning message may pop-up, asking if you want to continue. Choose yes.

13 2. Then select from the Drop Down Menu “Value Field Settings” 3. The pop-up box defaults on “Count”. Instead, select “Sum”. 4. Finally select the bottom “Count of Auto Score” but this time choose “Average” instead of “Count”. 1. Select the first/top “Count of Auto Score” from the “∑ Values” box.

16 The First Column Should display each Question. The Second Column should display the total number of times the question occurred. The Third Column should display the number of times it was answered correctly. The Final Column should display the average score of it being correctly answered. Example: 0 – All answers incorrect.5 or 50%- Half answered Correctly 1 or 100%– All students who had the question answered correctly.
