Objectives The purpose of this session is to: summarise what sorts of things you are expected to be able to do so far in the module, and to what levels clarify the topics that you will be tested on in test 1 explain the format and the structure of the test

The SSIFAF module In this module, the learning outcomes related to business and applications are assessed via the Project (40%) The learning outcomes related to spreadsheet skills are assessed via the exam (40%) The Portfolio tasks require you to apply these skills in context. (20%)

The Topics You will be assessed on your ability to: create and format spreadsheets create and use Pivot Tables create and use functions and formulae Use the help facility and other resources to find out how to do simple tasks

Spreadsheet Topics As befits a module which is about Finance and Forecasting, you should expect the examples to be concerned with those topics. In addition you should not only be able to create spreadsheets to perform particular tasks to order, you should be able to interpret the data produced.

Creating and Formatting Spreadsheets You should be able to convert a page which looks like this:

Creating and Formatting Spreadsheets To one which looks like this:

Creating and Formatting Spreadsheets You should also be able to produce graphs to order:

Pivot Tables You should be able to produce Pivot tables and Charts from data set out in this manner:

Pivot Tables Example of Pivot table :

Pivot Tables Example of Pivot table Chart :

Functions and Formulas You should be able to devise formulas such as: =D15*(B6 – B7)^2 which perform a calculation using the laws of arithmetic

Functions and Formulas You should also be able to devise formulas such as: =$D15*B6+$D17*B7+$D19*B9 which use a mixture of absolute and relative cell referencing

Functions and Formulas Also, you should be able to use a variety of functions: Arithmetical: = mod(A6*3) Textual =mid(A3,1,2) Utility =counta(a4:b7)

Functions and Formulas Also, you should be able to use Logical functions to produce formulas such as: =IF(AND(N6="Pass",Q6="Pass"),"Pass","Fail")

Functions and Formulas In addition, you should be able to use the help files, to find out about functions such as: FV, PMT, DB
