1 PPT/IEP Meeting – Agenda – page 1 Mock PPT/IEP Meeting Project – Team Two TopicDiscussion LeaderNotes for Team Two Introduce the meeting structure Kim Biglow (facilitator) Ensure everyone has a copy of the draft IEP document Indicate that we will not be covering every page in order Observations from home and parent perspective Kim Biglow (parent) Dina – ask parent questions about relationships with siblings and neighborhood peers Present levels of performance and impact language arts and math behavioral/social/emotiona l communication and health fine and gross motor, daily living Jim Roberts (gen ed), Kim Suder (spec ed) Dina Santoro (social worker) Sharon Poole (speech pathologist) Kim Biglow (OT/PT) Kim B will manage the flow, refers attendees to pages 4 and 5 Each person talks about their area Ask the parent questions like: Jim – what does Miguel say at home about his class? Kim S – is there any subject that Miguel seems to like best? Sharon – did Miguel learn Spanish like your other children? same pace? able to say the words? Kim B(OT) – have you noticed that Miguel has trouble dressing himself ? Kim B(facilitator )– ask for questions from parent Miguel’s eligibility for special services Kim Biglow (facilitator) Kim B proposes that Miguel is eligible: the evaluation shows that his performance is less than we would expect based on his capability the evaluations thus far point to disability in speech and language - Discussion - All participate from their ‘role’ – gist is: his speech and language difficulties may be causing his academic, social and emotional issues he needs assistance with speech and language to address his disability and help in other areas to combat the impact of the disability Establishing annual goals academic classroom participation speech and language fine motor skills and daily living social interaction Kim Suder (spec ed) Jim Roberts (gen ed) Sharon Poole (speech) Kim Biglow (OT/PT) Dina Santoro (social worker) Kim B introduces the annual goal concept to parent – refers to page 7s Each person explains their goal then asks parent for questions, comments, concurrence

Does he have any concerns? Special servicesKim Suder (spec ed) Kim S refers to page 11 and summarizes the services and where they will be provided, time out of class etc. Summary of recommendations Kim Biglow (facilitator) Kim B refers attendees to page 2 and reviews the summaries Next stepsKim Biglow (facilitator) Kim B leads discussion of next steps Kim S agrees to coordinate the weekly communication to parent Dina agrees to find a community resource to help parent with communications with school Kim B asks parent if she has any questions? Does she feel like this is a good plan to help Miguel? Kim B hands required documents to parent and secure her signature as needed Kim B thanks everyone and adjourns the meeting
