“A Family Legacy of Prayer”

“Hannah’s Prayer” 1 Samuel 1: 1-20

Hear these words… In her deep anguish, Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly * She kept on praying * Praying in her heart * Pouring out her soul Praying here out of my great anguish and grief

Breakthrough Prayers can become these “groanings too deep for words” that Hannah showed. Like Eli, others may misinterpret your passionate pursuit of the Lord in prayer and judge you.

Can I guarantee that your passionate prayers for your family members will result in “the desires of your heart? No….but I do know that God is still in “the prayer-answering business” and even exceeded Hannah’s prayers!

1 Samuel 2:21 “And the L ORD was gracious to Hannah; she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the L ORD.”

1 Samuel 12:23 “As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the L ORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.”

1 Peter 3:7 “A husband should be thoughtful of his wife… then nothing will stand in the way of your prayers.”

Job 1: 1-5 Job was described as a man who was blameless, upright, feared God and shunned evil…as well as a father who routinely prayed to the Lord for His mercy and blessing upon His children (vs. 5).

Psalm 78: 1-7 A Call to Share the Power of God with Future Generations, by Example, and in Prayer.

Isaiah 29: 24-25 24 “Can plunder be taken from warriors, or captives be rescued from the fierce?” 25 But this is what the L ORD says: “Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.”

Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
