2 FACTS Troy Leon Gregg convicted of two counts of armed rubbery and two counts of murder. Judge give the jury the option of life in prison or death penalty. Jury and judge both choice the death penalty Gregg took it to the Supreme Court Died July 29, 1980

3 Issue What freedom or right was at issue? Curl and unusual punishment, under 8 th amendment and the 14 th amendment. Why was it at issue? Furman v. Georgia 1972 How and why did the Supreme Court decide the case as it did? Ruled in favor of Georgia stating that with proper cause given the circumstances of the case the death penalty is okay. How did this case change how we understand or interpret the Constitution/Amendments? Its showed that privies decisions are not permanent and can be over turned at a later date and time.
