What we expect from students: To hand homework in on time. Students must hand their completed homework in with an attached mark scheme. It is the responsibility of the student to print off this mark scheme. All work must be completed by looking at the criteria found on the mark scheme To put a good amount of effort in to homework tasks. We will suggest how long each activity should take. To ask for help or guidance (if needed) in plenty of time prior to the due date. To ensure that homework is well presented. That students have done all they can to prepare themselves for their formal assessment What you can expect: A homework tasks is set during every school half term. Each homework has been carefully designed to develop the key skills required to be an excellent historian Each homework task has a variety of parts. These have been designed to build up relevant contextual knowledge which will help with termly formal assessments. To have some of your homework peer-assessed by others in your class. That homework will be marked using the criteria sheet found on the following pages. For each homework the feedback sheet will be highlighted, and put in their best work folders History points to be awarded to reflect the effort put in to the homework. History points will also be signed off on your reward chart. This will map your progress throughout the year. There will be a total of 44 History points available throughout the year Formative comments and official levels will issued on your termly assessments.. The teacher will issue comments that will link into your progress and targets. You may well be expected to show that you have added to your work once it has been marked and feedback given. This will help you have taken on board advice and developed your historical skills. Produce an A4 poster in the form of a mind map which includes: Who produced it, why it was produced, when it was produced, what it stated and where it was produced and where it is now (clue: there is more than one copy) Part II: Identify 10 areas of the school that you would like to improve. 8 Homework task IV: Design your medieval coat of arms Date set: Date Due: Aims and objectives: To show an understanding of the the symbols of helardry. This will help you develop your interpretation skills Task: Research the rules of heraldry and include this in your justification Design your own crest/coat of arms Use the notes on the following page and your own research to come up with a design that best fits your personality/family traits. Write an explanation of your coat of arms on the back. Justifying why you deserve to have these symbols on your shield. ie I have drawn a drawn an axe as I am dutiful. I am dutiful because I always do my homework to the best of my ability and always hand it in on time. Read it! Task II: You have put together a PowerPoint which should have been rehearsed and be no longer than 5 minutes and 5 slides. C) What life was like for people who lived at the time in which the book was set. This should include clear evidence of further research. D) Some intelligent, imaginative questions that you would ask the author which shows that you have thought about what you have read E) Comparison to other books set in the past that you have read.
