2 Overview Transition will be overwhelming- seek help Meet Guidance Counselor early- set plan in place Introduce yourself to baseball coach- What should I do this winter? Gain info- Captain’s practices/workouts Social Media Awareness-Continuous process throughout High School Parents and potential athletes attend athletic forum freshman year- Learn Athletic HandbookAthletic Handbook PSAT Exams PSAT Exams each year

3 September/October Play two sports if possible- preferred comb. Fall/Spring Play Fall Baseball if available Long Toss twice a week to build arm strength Sprint and medium distance running to begin (no long distance)

4 November Plan winter baseball schedule Weight Training (find a trainer) Locate indoor facility with quality instructionindoor facility Research off-season conditioning and sports nutritionoff-season conditioning

5 December/January Start/Continue weight training (off-season training) Make every attempt to attend captain’s workouts- get to know program leaders/seniors

6 February-May Did you make High School Baseball Team? If not, feedback from coach? If yes, work with coach’s feedback- strengths and weaknesses Make yourself versatile, too early to choose one position

7 June-August Summer League Season- AAU, Babe Ruth, Legion Play as much as you can in most competitive baseball Find local clinics/camps- evaluation by high school/college coach

8 Overview Grades very important- especially if bad transition to high school freshman year Meet Guidance Counselor early about desire to play college baseball- keep constant contact to make sure standards are met Email potential colleges of interest- recruit me profilerecruit me profile Take PSATs in your sophomore year Engage in extra-curricular activities within school- ex. Politics, Clubs (choose one and be very active) community service

9 September/October Repeat Freshman Year Play Fall Ball, long toss and running regiments all the same Meet Guidance Counselor early build plan for year

10 November-February Continue off-season training-Are your workouts evolving? Attend Captain Practices- build off coach’s feedback and involve yourself with varsity athletes as much as possible Did you register for PSATs?

11 March-May Where do I stand? Reevaluate One position defined? Meet with coach at the end of the year- gain feedback for future
