3 Role & History Spring 2002 – TBWG identified need to compile traffic, trade, and project-related data Subcommittee - “keeper” of border information/data 2003 – Prepared 1 st version of Border Infrastructure Compendium (top 33) 2004/05 – Expanded to 65 crossings 2005 – Online Border Infrastructure Compendium (OBIC) 2006 – OBIC expanded to 120 crossings

4 Recent Activities TBWG Website Improvements  Additions to online library  TBWG newsletter now online  Ongoing updates to membership directory  New interactive border map  Average 3,428 hits/month (116/day) OBIC Update  Traffic & trade data online  Project updates completed but yet online  Average 80 hits/month (2/day)

7 Planned Activities Western Regional Workshop  Modeled on August 2007 QC-NY State event  Scope (small POEs)  Potential participants: Washington State, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, Alberta, plus federal agencies, other states/provinces) Status:  Timing: Postponed until fall 2009  Location: Spokane, Washington

8 Planned Activities OBIC Improvements & Public Access  Consensus – a useful tool, but can it be improved?  Database format  Search function  Public Access  Interactive Border Map completed  Potential Canada-U.S. “Border Facts” section  Potential to transfer OBIC information onto publicly accessible part of website  TC – Reviewing functionality, usage and data entry questions relating to OBIC
