1 November 6 Ballot Initiatives & Impacts on Chabot College Update from Chabot College President Dr. Susan Sperling

2 Proposition 30 An increase in sales tax of ¼ of a cent An increase in personal income tax for people who earn over $250,000 per year (for seven years) Revenues generated for CCC’s : –$550 million for 2012-2013 –$3 billion over 7 year timeframe If Prop. 30 Passes it Would Mean:

3 $5.2 million dollar mid-year reduction to Chabot-Las Positas CCD in current fiscal year 2012-2013 Leaves only one semester to mitigate impacts Workload reduction from state of 7.3% Chabot would need to reduce up to 100 course sections for Spring 2013 affecting about 3,500 students at average 35 students per class Proposition 30 If Prop. 30 Does Not Pass it Would Mean:

4 Each Parcel in District (about 200,000) would be levied a $28 per year tax for six years CLPCCD would receive about $5.6 million per year for six years to provide classes and services for students (starting 7/1/13) Measure I If Measure I Passes it Would Mean:

5 Voters would not pay $28 parcel tax per year for six years CLPCCD would not receive about $5.6 million per year for six years to provide classes and services for students (starting 7/1/13) Measure I If Measure I Does Not Pass it Would Mean:
