1 85 Men 85 Women 172 In Total

2 Each country is allowed to have three athletes in badminton, one for singles and two for doubles. The singles court is measured as 13.4m in length and 5.18m in width, the doubles court is measured as 13.4m in length and 6.1m in width. The net is 155m in height. Badminton made it’s Olympic appearance at the Barcelona 1992 games. It was never taken off as an Olympic sport. The Asian countries such as China, Indonesia and South Korea have won 23 of the 24 gold medals awarded ever since badminton was introduced to the Olympics. Athletes hit the shuttlecock(Birdie) over the net to the opponents half of the court, if one half fails to return the shuttlecock to the other, the other side gets a point. The shuttlecock weight is between 4.74 grams to 5.5 grams.

3  The world’s largest shuttlecock is 18 feet and can be found in Kansas City Museum in the USA.  They say the best shuttlecocks are made out of the feathers from the left wing if a goose.  Denmark is one of the most successful European city.
