1. How Do Ice Ages form?
Changes in the earth's orbit cause less sunlight to fall on the northern hemisphere during summer
Northern ice sheets melt less during summer and gradually grow over thousands of years.
Earth's albedo is increased which amplifies the cooling, spreading the ice sheets farther.
This process lasts around 10,000 to 20,000 years, bringing the planet into an ice age

-Glacier: Large river of ice that flows through a landscape
-There have been 4 ice ages
-until 4000 years ago we were under Lake Michigan-outwash plain

6. Canadian Shield After the Canadian Shield formed Michigan,
it had a succession of ecosystems varying from ancient sea, which gave us our limestone
base, to tropical forests.

Present-day North America was underwater during the Precambrian era .
Limestone, sandstones, and shales were deposited on top of the Precambrian deposits
North America was periodically covered by shallow seas or received sediments from higher ground.
