The culture of the program is doubly more important than the x’s and o’s. Is shaped by playing and coaching experience of well over 100 years at every level except professional. Because hockey, like most “flow” type sports boils down to 1v1 & 2v1 battle situations, this is how we look at the ice surface and evaluate play.

Is not based upon set plays (systems), which will not work when your athletes are lacking in skill development, that is why skills and competitive small games are the teaching cornerstones of this program. Because we’ve had success doing it the wrong way and this way is significantly better for all involved. Our roster of players will out-work your roster of players.

Ages 5-12 – Skills, agility, flexibility, FUN. – Small Area Games. – Playing multiple sports. Ages – General & Position Specific Skills. – Competitive Situational Games & Teaching. – Competitive Small Area Games. – Multiple Sports (with some narrowing). – Introduction to off-ice conditioning. Core strength. Body weight exercises. Medicine and stability ball work. Basic introduction to weights, for from & 7 & 8 th grade. Ages – Position Specific Skills. – Competitive Small Area Games. – Competitive Situational Play & Teaching. – Multiple Sports w/ further narrowing. Core strength and Stamina (work capacity). Regular weight training at older ages, for strength, not bulk.

Positivity. Does not look to win now, but takes a long-term approach to an individual player’s and a team’s success. Emphasis on skills based station work. Strong knowledge of the basics of skill development. Facilitates high energy practices and tempo of play in games. Limited amount of standing around during practices. – Everyone is moving!!!! Rotates positions amongst players from squirt thru pee- wee.

Disciplined play that is age appropriate. Develops read & react skills via Small Area Games & Situational Play. Utilizes his assistant coaches during practices. Is well prepared for all practices. Nearly equal playing time thru 15U. Encourages multiple sports and is flexible regarding other commitments during the season. Practice to game ratio of 3:1 or 4:1. – Squirts, Pee Wee, Bantams games (no more).

A program that values its U8 and house program as much as it values its high-end travel teams. Watch out for a program that pushes the “exposure” your player will get at years of age. Cost of a program does not equal quality of development.

College options & facts: – Nearly every NCAA Div. 1 Freshman College Hockey player is 20 years old. – Only 1% of youth hockey players will play major Div. 1 NCAA hockey. – Only 1/10 of 1% will ever make a living playing hockey. Division 1 & 3 NCAA (no athletic scholarships D3) College Club
