Therefore, we were able to return to normal summer capacity and flex down surgical inpatient beds. Staffing: Sickness levels in July’15 saw a 1% increase from the previous month. Annual leave taken in July’15 was higher than previous 3 months as would be expected. Temporary Staffing: Bank spend in July ’15 saw a reduction in nursing bank spend Band 5 staff nurse vacancies was the main reason for booking bank shifts. During July’15 there was 1 red shift on the Burn ward a member of staff was sent home sick at midnight which left one staff nurse and 1 CSW appropriate allocation of staff was taken to manage patient care.
