THE SACRIFICIAL LIFE INVOLVES SACRIFICING FREEDOM FOR FELLOWSHIP

Romans 6:19-22 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

Would you sacrifice some of your freedoms in Christ, for your Christian brother’s sake, to promote fellowship?

I. What’s the Secret to Establishing Genuine Christian Unity? - v13-20

A. By not allowing your freedom in Christ to hurt others. Romans 14: Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way. As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. I. What’s the Secret to Establishing Genuine Christian Unity?
