The route Christopher Columbus took. Christopher Columbus believed he could sail west around the world to reach India as a short cut but actually it led him to America. About Christopher’s life! Christopher was born in Italy. He was born in 1451 and died in He had two sons by different mothers. Christopher’s wife died soon after they moved to Spain. About his voyage. Christopher Columbus first sailed on August 3, He had three ships named the Pinta, Nina, and the Santa Maria. The ship set out across the Atlantic Ocean, it took about five weeks.
