The Story of Nian By Jasmine Wong

Once upon a time, there was a quiet village. It was peaceful.

Some people played on the swings. Some children chatted.

But every year, the monster called Nian would come to the peaceful village to eat people, plants and animals.

‘The monster village’. And the peaceful village became ‘The monster village’.

One day, Nian came again.

The villagers were scared and frightened.

‘Come fast! We need to run away to the village head!’ They ran away and the women shouted, ‘Come fast! We need to run away to the village head!’ ‘Come fast! We need to run away to the village head!’

One day,the people knew Nian was scared by red paper.

Nian was also scared by firecrackers and drum sound, too!

Since then, the people stuck the red paper outside their home, lit the firecrackers and beat the drums.

And the people are safe now.

THE END!!!!! THE END!!!!!
