Necessity of Literature Review in Proposal Preparation Literature review takes time, but is essential to prevent wasted time and resources later on. Is your idea original?  Minimize overlap with similar studies  Assess the competition Refine your Ideas  Generate a hypothesis  Realistic research aims  Discuss research idea with colleagues, mentors, etc.
