Smart Parking Presented by Dina Tantawy an Application of optical Wireless Sensor Network

The Main Idea Difficult to find a place to park in Garage or parking lot!! Smart parking directs you to the place where you can park with no pain It used optical wireless sensors It operates by counting the number of cars entering, exiting the garage It also sense positions where it contains a parking lot or an empty space or park it for you depending on the garage system

The Main Achievements Lower installation cost (compared to ordinary loops detectors) Lower Maintenance cost Ease of installation Ease of maintenance Better accuracy Less traffic jam

The Challenges Using Optical sensors they couldn’t say whether the detected object is a person, car, cat, or what exactly !! They used two sensors with certain spacing in between (space fits a car & much bigger than a person) Entrance point could be exit point, how could they detect whether the car is entering or exiting ! Using two sensors they could detect the direction of the car
