NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU! The expression “to move mountains” is an exaggeration, but Jesus used it so that we would never forget that with faith nothing is impossible. The comparison with the “mustard seed” is used to show that what Jesus requires of you is not faith of a particular size, but a genuine faith, which is rooted solely in God and not in your own strength. At times it seems like an impossible task to give the Gospel to others, but for God nothing is impossible. How often in the course of your life have you felt the need for somebody to give you a hand and at the same time realized that no one could solve your problem? That’s when you turn to Someone who can make the impossible happen. That Someone is Jesus! Lately we have had a lot of strikes in our school system. When yet another one started at our school, I didn’t agree with it at all, and so I decided to cross the line with three or four other students and enter the school. However, since it was an unauthorized strike, the principal decided to suspend all the students who didn’t go to school that day. You can imagine what a reaction I got from my fellow students! They called me all kinds of names, even using bad language (through text messages), and some were really very upset about the whole thing, probably also because I was the class rep and they presumed I would have done what the majority was doing. I felt really bad about it and didn’t know what to do. Then I thought of asking God to help me bring peace between me and my classmates. I felt new courage inside and also I got an idea! I thought that the best rebuttal is love and so in the afternoon I sent a personal text to each one of my classmates, telling them something positive. The next morning many of them thanked me, some even said they were touched by my message. The “fracture” in our class had been healed. 3 WoLWoL «If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.» Mt 17, 20 That’s exactly the moment that Jesus urges us not to be discouraged, but to turn to God with trust. In one way or another, he will answer us. If you are assailed by doubts or uncertainties about your faith, it means you don’t yet trust God totally. Your faith is weak and you still depend on your own strength. On the other hand, the one who trusts completely in God lets God himself act…and Jesus assures us that with faith we will “move the mountains” of indifference and apathy in the world. Sometimes when we are faced with overwhelming difficulties, we may even be tempted not to turn to God at all. Write about some difficult moment you had, and how living this Word of Life, it was resolved… Human reasoning tells us, “Give up! It’s no use anyway.” ________________________ ________________________ ________________________ ________________________ ________________________ ________________________ ________________________ WITH FRIENDS IN THE FAMIL... …so let’s go forward, to experience how nothing is impossible for God.
